CREATING A NEW SET-UP INSTRUCTIONS This program allows you to create a new set-up for access to the service. You will be asked a series of questions to configure a set-up program for your particular modem and dialing requirements. Those questions are as follows: 1). Press the F2 "button" at the menu to Create a New Set-Up. 2) ENTER NEW SET-UP NAME. Name the new set-up. 3) ENTER I.D. NUMBER. You will enter in the same I.D. number for each set-up. 4) PASSWORD. Type in your existing password. This is optional. If you choose to not enter your password here you will be prompted to enter it when you log-on to the service. 5) COM PORT. The program will search for your communications port that is assigned to your modem. Confirm the Com Port by typing in the number when prompted. Be sure not to assign the Com Port you have designated for your mouse. NOTE: Your mouse and modem can not be on odd or even number Com Ports. For example, if your modem is on Comm Port 1, your mouse must be on Com Port 2 or 4. 6) MODEM INITIALIZATION. The program will set your modem at the factory default setting of AT&F, then test to make sure that modem string will work for your modem. If you use a specific modem initialization string for your modem, enter that string when asked. If you need assistance building a modem string please call Customer Service at 1-800-547-4727. 7) AVAILABLE SPEED. This screen will ask you to define the speed in which your modem can transmit data. Select the appropriate speed and type the number given in the box. Modems that have V.42 (data compression) can use a faster transmission. For example, if you have a 2400 bps modem with V.42 select "4" for 9600. If you have a 9600 bps modem with v.42 select the 19,200 speed. 8) PHONE NUMBER. This section will give you a list of the local telephone numbers. Type in your area code. A list will appear with 2400 bps, 9600 bps and 14,400 bps number. Highlight the number you wish to use. Your selections will be automatically posted in a new set-up screen. You may then press "C" to connect to the service.
